Newsletter: What’s on tap (i.e. the docket) for this weekend

2014-11-21 09.06.21Weekend Update

Shockingly, it’s STILL about beer… and food

Tonight (Friday), Chowgirls Killer Catering returns to the taproom with their award-winning menu that uses local, organic, and seasonal ingredients to create naturally good food. From American comfort food to vegetarian and spicy ethnic selections, Chowgirls’ diverse menu offers a fresh approach. Tonight’s gluten-free menu includes a vietnamese-style noodle salad featuring rice noodles, lettuce, tomato, ginger, shitake, and leek – with your choice of grass fed Peterson’s Limosin Beef flank steak or roasted Mississippi Mushrooms’ king oyster mushrooms.

As always, Friday also brings us the latest offering in our brewer’s choice series with the tapping of our Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. Cocoa nibs mesh with a combination of buckwheat, millet and sorghum to create a dark, full-bodied ale with a complimentary oatmeal flavor. ABV 5.2% ~ IBU 36

Saturday, the Burning Brothers team will be down at the Union Depot in St. Paul for Winterfest 2015. This craft beer sampling event celebrates beer brewed in Minnesota by the breweries and brew pubs that are current members of the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild. Chase out the winter chill with a multitude of Winter Warmers, hearty food, beer education, entertainment and music. Tickets are still available!

Crowds not your thing? Stop in the taproom on Sunday from 2-8pm for a more relaxed pint. We’ve got a nice collection of tabletop games to being enjoyed while catching up with friends over a beer.

Cheers,
Burning Brothers

 Weekend Update

Shockingly… it’s about beer

Let’s do this chronologically, for the sake of my OCD.

It’s Thursday, so that means tonight (and every Thursday night) we are doing our Thirsty Thursdays Happy Hour. Come on down to the taproom for $1 off pints and $2 off growler fills all night long. But remember intrepid traveler, St Paul doesn’t allow growler fills after 8pm on Thursdays, so get here early.

On Friday, Rusty Taco is in the house to satisfy all of your taco cravings. Better yet, we are pairing them against our latest creation… the American Lager. (OMG4REALZ!!1!) That’s right folks, we have taken the pillar of American beer and recreated it in gluten-free form. Prepare to be amazed.

Saturday, our beer maestro Dane and his able bodied brewer Andrew will be headed up to Grand Casino Hinckley for the Grand Minnesota Taste-Together featuring musical guests Trampled By Turtles and Communist Daughter. Need I say more?

Not quite ready for the weekend to stop? On Sunday (wait, you guys are open on Sunday??!?) the taproom is open from 2-8pm. Stop in for a pint, relax and gird yourself from the fact that Monday is hiding just around the corner.

Questions? Drop us a note via Email, Facebook, Petroglyph, Twitter or Google+.

Cheers,
Burning Brothers

FoF: Tollefson & Dry Stout

It’s already after 5pm on Friday, so I’ll spare you the usual rhetoric and get straight to the point. (OMG4REALZ!!1!)

2015-02-13 17.10.03Food on Friday (FoF) is Chef T-Bone from Tollefson Family Pork Farm whose all gluten-free menu includes:

  • Housemade salsa with chips
  • “Adult” Creamy/Spicy Mac n’ Cheese
  • Wrap Du Jur with smoked sausage or sauteed veggie
  • Cottage bacon a la carte

Brewer’s choice is Dane’s Dry Stout. As far as dry stouts are concern, this is one that is not going to make you pucker. With a bit of sweetness to balance the toast characteristics, the hints of coffee and chocolate really shine through. On the backside, the dryness of the malt makes itself known but does not linger. It is an easy drinking, enjoyable way to end…or start your day!  (IBU: 40 ~ ABV: 4.1%)

This weekend’s tap selection:

  • Pyro American Pale Ale
  • Roasted Coffee Ale
  • Fused Cranberry
  • Fused Orange Blossom Honey
  • Dane’s Dry Stout (Brewer’s Choice)

Cheers!

FoF: Moondog & Black Pepper Porter

2014-11-14 18.15.12Food on Fridays (FoF) again welcomes are local slinger of German-style dogs and bratwursts, Moondog Fancy Meats. Choose from a variety of meaty goodness (pork, beef and bison to name a few) and then pile them high with all the (un)usual toppings.

IMG_1137Meanwhile on the beer side, we continue our Friday tradition of Brewer’s Choice. This week we are featuring Dennis’s Black Pepper Porter. This beer starts with the aromas of chocolate and black currant and follows up with toast and cherry flavors along with a distinct black peppercorn finish. IBU: 27 ~ ABV: 3.5%

This weekend’s tap selection:

  • Pyro American Pale Ale
  • Roasted Coffee Ale
  • Fused Cranberry
  • Fused Orange Blossom Honey
  • Dennis’s Black Pepper Porter (Brewer’s Choice)

Cheers!
